About the Council

Recognizing the global need for a world-wide forum of engineering deans and rectors, a group of over 20 leaders of engineering education institutions and corporate partners first met in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 9 October 2006 and in Istanbul, Turkey, on 30 September 2007. Encouraged by the International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES) and modeled after the ASEE Engineering Deans Council (EDC), the Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC) was created on 9 May 2008 in Paris.

IUCEE-GEDC Partnership Update (September, 2014)

The Chapter expects to have a significant representation at the GEDC Conference being held in Dubai as part WEEF 2014. 25 Participants have confirmed registration already and six papers are being presented.

IUCEE-GEDC Partnership Update (May 29, 2014)

Our IUCEE- GEDC Chapter has started having virtual meetings which will be continue to be held regularly once a month to facilitate development of leadership among IUCEE Consortium Colleges.  Virtual meetings have also been conducted with faculty and leadership teams of several colleges individually in order to identify critical areas for mentoring and collaboration among colleges in India as well in the US. Such meetings have been held so far with more than 15 Consortium Colleges.

The IUCEE-GEDC Chapter will oversee the planning and implementation of the IUCEE-IGIP Teacher Certification program being planned with the assistance of IGIP.

The Chapter expects to have a significant representation at the GEDC Conference being held in Dubai as part WEEF 2014.

IUCEE GEDC Partnership Update (March 11, 2014)
Since June 2013, IUCEE has assisted in the formation of a GEDC (Global Engineering Deans Council) Chapter in India. The Mission of the GEDC is to serve as a global network of engineering deans and to leverage the collective strengths of the deans for the advancement of engineering education, research and service to the global community. The four main arms of our strategic plan are: institutional leadership, curriculum leadership, policy leadership and accreditation leadership.   • The first meeting of the IUCEE-GEDC Chapter was held at the College of Engineering Pune on July 7, 2013.
  •  Fifteen members of the Chapter attended the GEDC Conference in Chicago from October 20-22, 2013, followed by a tour of Purdue University, University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and Michigan State University.
  •  The second meeting of the Chapter was held during the International Conference for Transformation in Engineering Education (ICTIEE 2014) in Hubli on January 17, 2014.
