IUCEE IFEES Partnership Update (March 11, 2014)
Since 2007, IUCEE has been a member of the International Federation of Engineering Societies (IFEES), represented by Krishna Vedula, Founder Executive Director of IUCEE. Prof. Krishna Vedula, University of Massachusetts Lowell, has been very active with IFEES in a leadership role and was President of IFEES from 2010 to 2012.
A major activity of IFEES is the IFEES Summit every year (as part of World Engineering Education Forum, WEEF, every alternate years). Several members of the IUCEE Consortium Colleges have attended and benefitted from these annual summits.
The next IFEES Summit will be part of WEEF 2014 to be held in Dubai from Dec 3 to 6, 2014; All IUCEE colleges are encouraged to participate and submit abstracts. Please contact IUCEE Director of Operations in India, M. Kantha Reddy (email@example.com) for any information.
Below is a note from Hans Hoyer, Secretary General of IFEES:
“As communication and mobility barriers disappear and individual behavioural patterns transform, engineering educators and researchers are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of international dialogue. Global collaboration serves as a means to discuss common challenges and new approaches to deal with them, and to share examples of good practices with the global engineering education community.
Under the theme “Engineering Education for a Global Community”, The World Engineering Education Forum – WEEF 2014 – will include over 70 multidisciplinary sessions, bringing together the world most renowned experts to address the latest innovation, advances, technology, issues and challenges in engineering education. Participating organizations include IFEES, GEDC, ABET, IEEE, IGIP, SPEED and many others. Please join us in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) from December 3-6 2014, to contribute to ongoing conversations on these important issues in engineering education. You may visit the official website, www.weef2014.org for more details. “
