IUCEE-IGIP Partnership Update (September, 2014)

We are making progress with the proposed IUCEE-IGIP Teacher Certification Program http://www.igip.org/igip/. The IGIP Board has approved our proposal and will provide IGIP Accreditation for our Program. The title “Ing.paed.IGIP”, which is given by the IGIP curriculum, certifies a certain educational level for a teacher, trainer or instructor, The proposed IUCEE-IGIP curriculum will also lead to this title of certification for individual faculty in India upon completion.

A pilot is being planned to be started immediately after the Second International Conference on Transformations in Engineering Education (ICTIEE 2015): http://ictiee.org/

IUCEE-IGIP Partnership Update (May 29, 2014)

We are making progress with the proposed IUCEE-IGIP Teacher Certification Program http://www.igip.org/igip/. The IGIP Board has approved our proposal and will provide IGIP Accreditation for our Program. The title “Ing.paed.IGIP”, which is given by the IGIP curriculum, certifies a certain educational level for a teacher, trainer or instructor, The proposed IUCEE-IGIP curriculum will also lead to this title of certification for individual faculty in India upon completion.

The Draft curriculum has been customized by IUCEE experts to meet the training needs of Indian engineering faculty. This 20 credit program will be delivered almost entirely ONLINE over a period of 10 months by US and Indian experts. Candidates can take this program while being full time faculty at an engineering college. The program will conclude with a three day face-to-face workshop where each trainee will share best practices and present a final teaching project. We are open to discussing alternate models for delivering the program.

You can visit the IUCEE website at https://iucee.com/partners/igip/  for details of the IGIP Certification, IGIP Prototype Curriculum, IUCEE-IGIP Concept Document and the IUCEE-IGIP Proposed Curriculum. Dr. Veena Kumar, Director (Online Programs), School of Arts & Sciences, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, USA and Ex. Professor and head, Education Technology, IIT Delhi is leading the effort to design, set-up and launch the Program.

We had a meeting of IUCEE Consortium College leaders to discuss and refine the program as well as plan it implementation on March 27.  A major issue for the concern is the cost of the certification in its current draft version. We are working on revising this to make it more affordable.

IUCEE IGIP Partnership Update (March 11, 2014)

IUCEE and IGIP have been in discussion since May 2013 regarding setting up a collaborative IUCEE-IGIP Teacher Certification Program in India for engineering faculty. Dr. Michael Auer, President of IGIP (International Society for Engineering Education) Austria has provided us information about their program

Dr. Veena Kumar from Rutgers University in NJ, has taken the lead for launching the IUCEE-IGIP Teacher Certification program in India.  She has reviewed all the information about the IGIP Teacher Certification Program. Based on her own extensive experience and knowledge of the Indian context, she has prepared Concept Document and proposed Curriculum Structure for India.

The IUCEE-IGIP Collaboration was introduced at the IUCEE-GEDC dinner on Jan 17 evening at Hubli, by Dr. Auer and Dr. Kumar and an MOU was signed between IUCEE and IGIP at the ICTIE 2014. Several leaders of Indian engineering college expressed interest in participating and shaping this effort.

We have recently heard that IGIP Board has approved our Concept and Proposed Curriculum Structure. We will soon start working with a group of Indian college leaders and US faculty to take this program forward.
